Style Hacks to Beat the Heat
Posted on May 20 2016
When the temperatures start to soar, it's tough to remain cool and chic. Stylish often turns into a hot, sweaty mess! This time of the year most us gravitate towards flowy dresses, easy shorts, quirky sandals and flip-flops... anything too clingy, too thick or too covered up
seems way to hard to wear and pull off. Here are a few tips to help keep you looking and feeling great in the heat -
Apart from what you wear, the material makes a massive difference. Now is the time to bust out those easy breezy fabrics that help keep you cool and comfortable. Natural fibres, breathable materials and soft, gossamer fabrics are just what the doctor ordered. Synthetic fabrics often not only trap heat but take longer to dry off. You could also make switches from old favourites to their cooler cousins for e.g. instead of denim wear some chambray. Also look for stuff that is easy to wash and keep clean since the summer brings plenty of grime with it – and sweat stains bring any look down!
Mercury rising does not mean you need to compromise on looking polished and well groomed. Now is a good time to invest in some good waterproof makeup that will be relatively melt-proof. Play around to perfect an easier and less layered summer look. Plus all that jostling between air conditioned environs to the heat outside can play havoc on your skin, so be sure to update your skincare routine accordingly.
Short hair can be a blessing in this weather, but if you have long tresses it may be time to embrace some updated and beautiful updos. Various kinds of braids, half buns, artfully messy buns and all abound. Have fun some revamping your look with hairstyles that are breezy and gorgeous and keep your hair up and away from your face and neck.
Certain accessories not only look super chic, but are awesome to help during hot weather. Now is the time to bring out your sunglasses and funky hats. Umbrellas are a great protection from the sun as well and can be a quirky addition to your outfit. Keep your eyes and skin protected and always wear sunscreen! Bonus tip – If you plan to buy footwear in the summer, you may want to size up. Feet often swell up when it gets really hot.
Stylish also means taking good care of yourself; so remember keep yourself well hydrated!
